While backpacking in New Zealand last December I saw a few upside down Christmas trees. Apparently they’re popular in that part of the world. Here’s a photo I snapped of an upside down Christmas tree hanging in a restaurant in Queenstown, NZ. There’s even a few presents “under” the tree!
Would you ever have an upside down Christmas tree in your home? If you’re interested in knowing how they decorate these trees, there are several videos on YouTube.
Love it! Did any of the locals share the folklore behind this particular decorating oddity?
Apparently it’s an idea that goes back to the Middle Ages. If you Google it you can get some info. on it. Thanks for reading!
My Grandma did this for years in their upstairs dining room! Such good memories.
oh yeah, i totally missed seeing these photos last night! that’s hilarious!
I can’t say I have ever seen one before your post. Hmmm… very interesting.
