Last weekend my mom and I hauled the Christmas decorations up from the basement and started decorating for the holidays. As we unpacked the various items, my mom pulled out a special Christmas gift that I received many years ago from my Aunty Lois. It’s a strawberry shortcake doll (I loved Strawberry Shortcake!) standing beside a Christmas tree that lit up (pictured below). Some gifts are special and stand the test of time.

The first Christmas after my wife and I were married, we got a Christmas card from a friend that was shaped like a star. We didn’t have a star to go on top of our tree, so we used that card. It has since been replaced by an angel with little lights on her wings, but that card is still in our Christmas decorations. I think of those days every year when I see that card.
