Life’s a long and winding ride. Better have the right one by your side.

Today is a special day. Today my parents celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

40 years. Wow, that’s a long time to be married to the same person. That requires a special kind of love.

In today’s world, 40 years is an accomplishment and something to be celebrated. Actually 30 years, even 20 or 10 years, is an accomplishment. In fact, every year should be celebrated. Why? Because many marriages just don’t last anymore. Society teaches us to give up and throw in the towel when things get tough, which is why the divorce rate continues to climb. But my brothers and I have been fortunate to be surrounded by strong examples of marriage – my parents and both sets of grandparents. I was taught that marriage is lifelong commitment. Something to be cherished and honoured.

Life’s a long and winding ride
Better have the right one by your side
And happiness don’t drag its feet
Time moves faster than you think

A Family Farm.

My parents have called themselves a farmer and a farmer’s wife for 40 years. And my parents have lived on the same family farm for 40 years. While it may have changed in looks, the people and values remain the same. Some things never change.

Digging through some old photo albums, I found some gems I thought I’d share in honour of my parents ruby anniversary.

My parents are Alan Jackson fans so I found this classic song and video that made me think of them. They’re Livin’ on Love.

Happy 40th Anniversary to the best parents ever!

Love your favourite daughter.
