In a matter of weeks

On December 19, 2011 I was sitting in my condo in Winnipeg, Manitoba contemplating my future. Fast forward three weeks and here I am sitting in someone else’s home in Calgary, Alberta. In three short weeks I accepted a new job, resigned from my old job, traded in my car on a new one, sold my condo, packed up all my belongings and moved them to my family’s farm for storage, and tackled a lengthy to do list. Throw the Christmas and New Years holidays in there, and it made for a hectic three weeks. You’d be surprised how much you can get done in a few weeks when you have to. And I’m happy to report that it all went smoothly.

Several friends and family commented on how fast it all happened. And they’re right, it all happened very quickly, but I really wouldn’t want it any other way. Why drag it out? I prefer the less talk, more action approach.

So with all the loose ends tied up in Manitoba (or so I think), this past weekend I loaded up my Civic with only the bare necessities and drove across the Prairies to Calgary. After a 13-hour drive and an overnight stop in Medicine Hat (my old stomping ground), I arrived in my new home. For the next two months I’ll be living with my coworker Melissa and her husband Trevor. They’re in a great location; only a short distance from my work. I really appreciate them welcoming me into their home.

And today I began my new adventure. I toured my new office, met many of my fellow coworkers and received LOTS of information. I’m looking forward to working on the PR projects with our ag clients.

I apologize for my absence from the blogging world. With the busyness of the past few weeks I haven’t had the time to blog, but I hope to resume a more regular schedule as I settle into my temporary life in Alberta. Thanks for reading!
